Bridging Technology and Language Learning: The Impact of Digital Storytelling

The study explored whether digital storytelling could enhance the language proficiency of Key Stage 3 learners and if an interactive digital storybook could serve as an effective pedagogical tool within the curriculum. The study employed a combination of grounded theory, iterative design, an evolutionary prototyping model and a Delphi survey.

The research was conducted between 2021 and 2025, drawing on the expertise of researchers, schoolteachers and EdTech professionals who participated in Delphi and online surveys. Their contributions shaped three prototype iterations and the design principles that emerged from the project.

The thesis was completed in 2026 at the Plymouth Institute of Education, University of Plymouth. My sincere thanks to every participant in this research.
