Introduction
Online study are a key qualitative research method that provide a platform for facilitated discussions between experts in particular fields with the aim of generating a wealth of insights and perspectives (Krueger, 2014). Particularly in educational research, these insights can significantly inform and shape the development and refinement of teaching and learning tools and strategies (Hattie, 2009).
What is an online study?
Purpose and relevance:
To gain valuable insights and feedback, especially for refining research objectives and developing prototypes. Closely aligning developments with practical, real-world educational experiences and expert insights (Guerreiro et al., 2017).
Selection of participants:
Including participants with expertise and experience in specific areas such as creativity, technology integration, and student-centred approaches to learning (Brown, 2000; Warschauer, 2008; Prensky, 2010).
Structure and format:
Uses online platforms that facilitate remote and flexible participation of experts in various locations (Krueger, 2014). Implements a structured agenda that includes introductions, sharing of preliminary findings, pilot prototype reviews, and facilitated discussions.
Data collection and analysis:
Based on text-based feedback, which provides a reliable and detailed source of data (Stewart and Williams, 2005). Uses qualitative data analysis software to provide a thorough and comprehensive analysis of emerging themes and patterns (Kuckartz, 2013).
Why participate in an online study?
Contribute expertise:
Your insights and experiences can contribute significantly to and shape research developments.
Collaborate and Network:
Engage with colleagues and share knowledge and perspectives via the ‘Forum’ page
Influence future strategies:
Your feedback can shape and refine future educational tools and practices.
Our commitment to ethical research
Informed consent:
Providing clear, transparent information about the purpose, processes, and use of data in the study (Creswell and Poth, 2016).
Confidentiality:
Providing consistent data storage and management protocols to protect participant data (Smith, 2015).
Anonymity:
Commitment to protecting the identity of participants in all published research (Bryman, 2016).
Join us in enhancing educational strategies
Your participation and expertise in the online focus group study can provide important input into the development of the Interactive Storybook pilot prototype, helping to create educational tools that are ideally suited to real-world educational needs and contexts. Let's help create the future of digital storytelling in educational contexts.
