Dear Students,
Welcome to the creative space where your creative imaginations come alive! The Story Chain Board is an opportunity for each of you to contribute to an ever-growing, collaborative, interactive storybook based on our KS3 English Literature readings.
How does it work?
1. Book selection:
Initially, a book will be selected from the GCSE reading list.
2. Vocabulary building:
With the help of vocabulary.com, extract the words from the book and understand their context.
3. Create a story:
Choose your favourite word and let it inspire you.
Your new story should understand and continue the narrative of the previous story, forming a co-creative process. Think of it as a relay race, where you take the baton (the previous story) and run with it, adding your unique twist.
Select a 'Story Arc' for your narrative. This will determine the style and direction of the story you want to create. For example, if you're inspired by a hero's journey, you might choose the 'Hero's Character Arc'. If you are inspired by films such as Lord of the Rings, you might choose a 'Fellowship of the Ring' arc. Please always include a reference that best describes your selected arc to provide context.
4. Visual & Audio Enhancements:
Add an image that illustrates your story. This could be a drawing or a sourced image. Please remember to give proper credit for sourced images.
If you're feeling particularly creative, find or record a video clip that complements your story. Remember, credits are essential!
You can also record yourself narrating your story and upload it as a video clip. You can also share it on your YouTube channel.
5. Engage & Collaborate:
Read your classmates' stories.
Comment, give feedback and participate in discussions.
Why are we doing this?
Digital storytelling isn't just about writing; it's about expression, engagement and collaboration. This project aims to increase your understanding of literature, improve your vocabulary and, most importantly, make learning fun!
Rules to remember
Always give credit where it's due. If you've sourced an image, video or other content, give the correct credits and links.
Be respectful and friendly. Constructive feedback is encouraged, but let's keep our discussions positive and encouraging.
Sticking to the selected story arc is crucial. It helps to maintain a coherent flow.
Join us on this journey of creativity, collaboration and literature. Dive deep into the world of storytelling and let your voice be heard!
Digital Responsibility Guidelines for Learners
1. Respect copyright: Always credit the original creators when using images, text or other media. If you're not sure about the rights of use, ask your teacher or use copyright-free resources.
2. Protect privacy: Never give out personal information about yourself or others without permission. This includes names, addresses, telephone numbers and photographs.
3. Be authentic: Create original content whenever possible. If you are inspired by someone else's work, transform it to make it your own.
4. Cite your sources: When using information from other sources, always provide proper citations. This shows respect for others' work and helps to validate your own.
5. Think before you share: Consider the impact of your content before you post it. Is it friendly, helpful and appropriate for all audiences?
6. Engage responsibly: Be respectful and constructive when commenting or collaborating. Treat others as you would like to be treated online.
7. Ask for permission: Always ask permission before including others in your digital stories or projects.
8. Use technology wisely: Remember that digital tools are there to enhance your creativity, not replace it. Use them responsibly to support your learning.
9. Report concerns: If you come across inappropriate content or behaviour, report it to your teacher or a trusted adult.
10. Continue to learn: Stay informed about digital citizenship. Technology and its uses are constantly evolving, so continue to learn about responsible digital practices.
Remember, being a responsible digital citizen enhances your learning experience and helps create a positive online community for everyone.
Happy Writing !
